An Evening of Poetry, Storytelling and Music

Tewkesbury

Wednesday 23rd October 2019

19.00 - 22.00 pm

Venue: Alison's Bookshop and Musicroom, 138 High Street, Tewkesbury GL20 5JR

Poetry, Music and Storytelling at Alisons Bookshop and Musicroom in aid of The Altzheimers Society

Come along - it's going to be a very special event!

Local poet Charlie Markwick will promote his poetry pamphlet "Orienteering" in an evening of poetry, storytelling, and music.

Charlie Markwick is a professional storyteller based in Gloucestershire. His poetic journey started whilst caring for his wife Molly who had dementia. He explored ways of expressing his emotions about being a carer and then about being bereaved. Now he's moved on to explore many other topics. He is particularly interested in the work of Matsuo Bashō and has created a show called Orienteering, a fusion of prose and poetry to communicate the struggles of caring for someone with dementia. Orienteering is his first published pamphlet, and contains the poetry in the show.

Tewkesbury poet, writer, singer and performer, Tish Camp (Patricia Camp), will compère. Playwright and poet, Carol Sheppard, storyteller, Darren Hoskins and folk musicians, Tim, Graham and Andy join Charlie to make this a very special evening.

Charlie will donate to The Altzheimers Society and Alison's will donate 10% of all sales during the evening.

Cafe Chocolat are kindly staying open late on Wednesday 23rd October for anyone in need of refreshment before the evening starts.
