Exhibition: Judith Pemberton-Bennetts
7th January - 15th February 2020
Venue: Bethesda Chapel, South Street, Uley, Nr Dursley GL11 5SS
Creative dynamo Judith Pemberton-Bennetts is an artist living and working in acrylics from her studio at her home in Dursley.
At a young age Judith was given the advice from the teachers at her grammar school that 'art was not a serious enough subject for clever girls' and so her studies towards her A level were abandoned, turning her attention instead towards the law!
However art was never far away from her heart.
For many years, Judith continued to work in watercolours until the revelation of working in acrylics - a discovery which allowed the artist to feel that they really had 'come home'. A temporary move to Australia afforded Judith the time to concentrate on her creative self, bringing with this focus her first solo exhibition.
Her impressionist work has a fun, spirited style which has in the past depicted life on the beach in Australia where bright colours and powerful sunlight were a real source of inspiration.
Since returning to the Cotswolds Judith has been working on a variety of landscapes and sunsets in the surrounding area. Judith's work is readily recognised for the use of the vibrant colours of nature which, she hopes, brings a sense of opulence and happiness to the viewer.
Her most recent work truly encapsulates the wonder of walking through the beautiful woods which surround our neighbouring town of Dursley. Judith's work will bring a sense of cheer and optimism for the dreary months of January and February and will be on show in our Vestry Cafe.
