Speculative Art School: Critical Matter

During the three days of this year's Speculative Art School we will be taking a critical look at materials - at what, where and how the earth’s resources are extracted, processed, transported and utilised in creative practice. In the observation gallery above room TC002A at FCH, you will find the Speculative Space, a compilation of written texts, propositions and reading lists from some of our favourite thinkers.

9.30 Field Trip to Blue Lias Clay Quarry, lunch and clay workshop.

Meet at 9.15 for minibus from Hardwick cafe. Return for lunch.

Clay Workshop

1.30 - 4 pm Digging Clay with Kate Martin & Sarah Bowden. FCH TC002A

Kate Martin will show us how she produces workable clay from the soil beneath our feet. Kate is a Cheltenham-based ceramic artist who works with the clay from the area around Hardwick Campus. She will provide already prepped clay to enable us to make tiles using Blue Lias as a slip.
