Nature in Art, the world’s first museum and art gallery dedicated to fine, decorative and applied art inspired by nature.

Our unrivalled collection is housed in a fine Georgian mansion, featured in Simon Jenkins’s book ‘England’s 1000 Best Houses’, just outside the famous cathedral city of Gloucester.

Through world-class exhibits, Nature in Art celebrates the variety of life on earth.

Twice specially commended in the National Heritage Museum of the year Awards and a runner-up in the Telegraph Family Friendly Museum Awards,  our unrivalled collection is housed in a fine Georgian mansion, featured in Simon Jenkins’s book ‘England’s 1000 Best Houses’, just outside the famous cathedral city of Gloucester.

International in scope, appeal and stature, our displays are always changing so you have a chance to see something different each time you visit. The displays are deliberately diverse in style and media, so that there is something for everyone.

Our collection embraces two and three-dimensional work in all media and styles ranging from Pablo Picasso to David  Shepherd. Spanning 1500 years, it includes work by 600 artists from over 50 countries. So whether you prefer exotic oriental treasures or watercolour landscapes, the Flemish masters or contemporary glass, modern abstract interpretations or bronze sculpture, textiles or ethnic art there will be something here for you … and you are likely to make some new discoveries too!

As well as regularly transforming our galleries with new displays from our own collection we organise a vibrant programme of special exhibitions, at least 15 each year.

Families are welcome. Children can create animal brass-rubbings, experiment with materials using our handling objects, touch some sculptures around the galleries, enjoy the outdoor play area and explore the garden. We arrange special family days and, in the school holidays, we offer an unrivalled range of organised art-based activities.

• Marvel all year round at the range of exhibits all presented in a beautiful setting.
• Watch artists and craftspeople at work in the studio from 19th January - 13th November (over 60 each year).
• Explore the sculpture garden.
• Unwind in the Hayward Coffee Shop with a light lunch or home-made cake.
• Browse the shop for books, souvenirs, prints and art materials.
• Join an art course, children’s activity day or family day in our purpose-built education centre.
• Relax with easy free parking for cars and coaches.
