The Holst 150 Birthday Party – Free event

Cheltenham celebrates the 150th birthday of Gustav Holst this September at a special event in the iconic Imperial Gardens, Cheltenham. Composer Gustav Holst is Cheltenham’s most famous son, known worldwide for The Planets.
This free community event, on the actual day of Holst’s 150th, sees musicians and artists come together to showcase Holst’s inspiring legacy. From music by Holst to new responses to his work, to craft activities and immersive VR worlds, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Mars Stage - Music 1 pm - 6 pm
Performances will be in various styles and genres, from classical to folk, to the more experimental.

1.55 pm Edward Derbyshire – Holst: A poetic and musical journey

5.55 pm Finale CK Choral Society accompanied by Cheltenham Philharmonic Orchestra
Make, Create 2 pm- 5pm. All ages arts and activities craft area including lyrebird sculptures, mural making, printmaking and paper planets.
Holst's Spaceship Earth - 2 pm - 5 pm. A multi-sensory, creative technology experience pop-up play-lab.
