Safran announce Sue Ryder as charity partner for fourth year in a row
Cheltenham
Safran Landing Systems in Gloucestershire has committed to continue its support of Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice in Cheltenham
Since 2022 Safran Landing Systems has raised over £40,000 for the palliative care and bereavement support charity though a wide variety of events and challenges. Its employees have also supported the hospice in a volunteering capacity, acting as stewards at a number of local Sue Ryder events such as Run Cheltenham and Ride for Ryder, a popular annual cycling challenge.
Part of the Safran group, an international high-technology group operating in the aviation (propulsion, equipment and interiors) defence and space markets, Safran Landing Systems is the world leader in aircraft landing and braking systems. Its expertise covers the entire life cycle of its products, from design and manufacturing to maintenance and repair. Since 1936, Safran Landing Systems has been a key employer in the area, contributing to both the local economy and community through its numerous projects and initiatives.
Colleagues at the company vote for their chosen charity partner each year, and Sue Ryder has consistently come out on top. Jo Dewey, employee at Safran explained: “A lot of people here have received support from Sue Ryder, including my own family. Many colleagues feel quite strongly that we should support the charity based on this personal experience.”
Grace Davis, added: “The hospice is local, so everyone knows it and appreciates the opportunity to take part in volunteering.
“People from across the organisation get involved with fundraising. Many of the suggestions for activities come from colleagues themselves, including a recent Padel tournament.”
This year has already been packed full of Sue Ryder fundraising events for the Safran team to participate in, with a recent Stroud Brewery Walk proving particularly popular. Colleagues also had the opportunity to join Sue Ryder staff in the charity’s seasonal Treecycling collection. Grace, Jo and Phil Perry along with the rest of the charity team have plenty of exciting plans for the remainder of the year, including the ambitious Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge.
Alysia Cameron-Price, Community Fundraising Manager at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice said: “The relationship between Safran and Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice goes from strength to strength, and we are so grateful for the company’s continued support and incredible fundraising achievements. Their dedication to raising money and amazing volunteering efforts ensure we can continue to provide care to people when they need it most.”
