REVIEW: Dead Dog In A Suitcase (and other love songs)

EVERYMAN THEATRE, Cheltenham

deaddogbanner2019

From the opening scene, this twisted morality style play grabs your senses and takes you through a story of lust, love and loss.

The storyline is based around ‘Macheath’, a murderous contract killer, whose crimes are slowly catching up with him. His character bruised and disheartened by the sense of injustice in the world, is out to get his fair share no matter what!

The audience are left wondering whether love could ever revive this darkened soul.

The story gives you just enough leads to be able to play detective, but with subtle clues such as ‘said dog in suitcase’, your hunches are soon thrown off track and you are gripped til the end.

With echoes of Shakespeare, this play serves up star-crossed lovers, a leading lady Macbeth and a vengeful Hamlet.

With ingenious and multilevel staging, your eyes are drawn to every ounce of the set in wonder of what will happen next.

A truly incredible and talented cast who  deliver high energy, high impact scenes throughout.
