This is a one day course that is designed to give you the knowledge and experience to decide if keeping goats is for you! Or if you have had goats in the past and want to brush up on your skills and understanding of these very unique and rewarding animals this is the course for you too!

The course will start at 10am with tea and coffee and something sweet to sustain you until lunchtime, where you will get a proper lunch to fuel you for the afternoon session.

The day with be a combination of time spent inside talking and discussing all things goats and then plenty of time outside getting hands-on experience of handling, moving and looking after our stock.

Areas covered include:

The fundamentals necessary to keep goats, from the legal side to the welfare requirements

Why goats? Learn about the breeds and why goats are so versatile and synonymous with small holdings

The practical implications – land required, shelters, fencing – yes they can be kept in with suitable fencing!!

Health – learn the basic theory but more importantly learn how to keep you goats healthy – prevention is better than cure!

The day will finish at 4pm with a cup of tea or coffee and of course cake before you make your way home. You will be given a written summary of all you learn on the day to take home with you.

Cost £99 per person (incl. VAT)

Numbers are strictly limited to a maximum of 12 people.
