Artificial Intelligence (AI) has arrived, and could be as transformative in our lifetimes as the Industrial Revolution was over 200 years ago. Already it recommends products to us, describes photos for the visually impaired, manages traffic flow and spots investment opportunities. Professor Stephen Hawking warned that an advanced AI, “could spell the end of the human race” and even if the chances of a superintelligence arising are low, perhaps it’s irresponsible to take the chance? Join Dame Wendy Hall, a Director of the Web Science Institute, as she discusses this and more.
Dame Wendy has served on the Global Commission for Internet Governance since 2014. One of the first computer scientists to undertake serious research in multimedia and hypermedia, she has been at its forefront ever since. Her work has been influential in many areas, including the emerging research discipline of Web Science.
