Cheltenham’s Lower High Street: Past, Present & Future Exhibition

Cheltenham

17th - 30th June 2017 (excluding Mondays)

Location: Chapel Arts, Knapp Road (near St James Square), Cheltenham, GL50 3QQ
Opening times: Tue–Sun, 10am-4pm
Entry fee: Free

The Lower High Street is home to some of the most interesting stories in the area. Over the past few months, our researchers have focused on recording memories from people who have lived and worked in the community. Exploring aspects of life from shops to spirituality, from butchers to back street boxing bouts, this exhibition tells the hidden histories of the Lower High Street and looks to protect and conserve those memories before they are lost. This is the first in a series of new historical research activities focused in Gloucestershire, led by the History team at the University of Gloucestershire.
