February half term
The science centre will be open between 10 am and 4pm on every day from Tuesday 13th to Friday 16th February 2018.
February half term has always been an exciting time of year for Cheltenham Science Group. Two years ago, we held our first pop-up science centre at the Regent Arcade and last year, we had our first event in our Coronation Square premises. This year is set to be just as much fun. We have recently purchased some programmable LEGO with money from the grant given to us by the Comino Foundation. Wednesday 14th and Friday 16th will be the first time we have had it out for families to play with in the science centre*. In addition, we will be welcoming back Trudi Price on Tuesday 13th for a workshop about natural dyes, such as turmeric. Later in the week Anna Birt, from the Canal and River Trust, is partnering with us again; this time she will help us investigate gear trains in a “Build a Crane” workshop on Thursday 15th.
*In order to give everyone a chance to play with this new equipment without feeling rushed, we will use a timed ticket system. These tickets are included in normal admission and will be available on your arrival to the science centre. We will not be taking advance reservations in case your plans change; we don't want to unnecessarily prevent others from using the LEGO. Regardless of your time slot, you can spend as long as you like exploring our permanent exhibition.
We are going to be running a pop-up science centre at the Avoncroft Museum (near Bromsgrove) from Monday 19th until Friday 23rd February 2018. More information will be available soon!
