Joyce Pinch was born in Derby but has lived in Gloucestershire for over fifty years. She studied at Redland College, Bristol and was Head of Art and Design at Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School in Wotton-under-Edge. She then lectured at University of the West of England in Bristol on the PGCE course.
Joyce’s paintings focus on found natural forms from the garden, the hedgerow or the seashore. This has been her life-long subject matter and often follows a theme, as one painting will sometimes lead to another.
Artist Carolyn Black has an MA in Fine Art from Cardiff UWIC and comes from a printmaking and video installation background. Around 2001, as a member of an artist-led group in Bristol, she began to initiate, deliver and produce scattered-site art projects in public spaces.
John Pinch has lived in the area for 50 years and has been associated with Prema since its foundation. During that time he taught silver jewellery making and life drawing/sculpting workshops here at the centre.
Uncommonly, John enjoys an eclectic mix of skills. He possesses an innate appetite for exploring materials and exploiting their potential, often resulting in unusual combinations.
