We are delighted to welcome poet, novelist and playwright Owen Sheers to Wycliffe College for an event in which Owen will be discussing his work, influences and process.
Owen’s wide ranging body of work includes his BAFTA and Grierson nominated film-poem, The Green Hollow, which has recently been published by Faber – who in July also published his BBC film-poem to mark the 70th anniversary of the NHS, To Provide All People. His one man play Unicorns, almost, about the life and poetry of WWII poet Keith Douglas, was produced during this year’s Hay Festival of Literature in May, while a stage version of Owen’s verse drama Pink Mist premiered at Bristol Old Vic in July 2015. His A-Level favoured collection of poetry, Skirrid Hill, was published in November 2005 and won a Society of Authors Somerset Maugham Award. He is Professor in Creativity at Swansea University.
The event will be held in Wycliffe’s Sibly Hall on the Senior School campus, best accessed through the main entrance, signposted as Gate 1. Parking is available both along the main drive and in an overflow car park to the right of the drive when approaching the hall. Guests approaching from further afield should use the main school post code, GL10 2JQ, for Sat Nav devices for a direct route.
There will be an opportunity to purchase Owen’s writing at the event from a stall run by local book sellers the Yellow-Lighted Bookshop.
