Discover Roman Gloucester with Civic Trust Guides

Between April and September 2020, Gloucester Civic Trust in conjunction with Museum of Gloucester are running walks and tours of Roman Gloucester.

ROMAN GLOUCESTER WALKS

Start at 10.30 on the following Fridays:

April 3rd, 24th; May 8th, 22nd; June 5th, 19th; July 3rd, 17th, 31st; August 14th, 28th; September 11th, 25th 2020

With a Civic Trust guide, learn why the Romans came to Gloucester. Discover Roman Walls in the Eastgate Chamber, walk down the site of the Forum and meet Emperor Nerva. See aspects of Roman life including mosaics, jewellery, weaponry and tombstones on display in the Museum.

Tickets £5 (max 15 per tour) from the TIC in the Museum (Brunswick Road) where tours start. Phone 01452-396572 or book online.

Please note: Access to the Chamber may be difficult forthose with mobility problems.

DISCOVER THE EASTGATE CHAMBER

Chamber Tours start at 11.00 am on the following Fridays:

April 17th; May 1st, 15th, 29th; June 12th, 26th; July 10th, 24th; August 7th, 21st; September 4th; 18th 2020

With a Civic Trust Guide, visit the Eastgate Chamber and discover Roman walls , a medieval gate tower and a 16th century horsepool.

DISCOVER THE BASTION IN KINGS WALK

Tours of the Bastion will take place at 11.00; 11.45 and 12.30 on the following days:

April 14th; May 12th; June 9th; July 14th; August 11th 2020

Underneath Kings Walk you will discover Roman walls from the 2nd to 4th centuries and the Bastion—a 13th century defensive tower.

The Bastion will also be open during Heritage Open Days on Sept 11th, 12th and 14th 2020
