Paternoster An Eden Grey Mystery - Step into the Story

How many times do you find yourself reading a book and wishing that you could step into the story? Now a Cheltenham company allows you to do just that.

Escape Rooms Cheltenham, on Coronation Square, has partnered with local author Kim Fleet, to create an escape room based on her Cheltenham-set crime novel, Paternoster. Escape Rooms owner Pete George, said, “We wanted to create a new escape room that was unique to the local area. I loved Kim’s crime novels and, as a local author, it seemed an ideal opportunity to ask her to collaborate with us on developing our newest room.”

Kim said, “I was thrilled to be asked. It’s wonderful to think of people in the escape room solving clues alongside my PI, Eden Grey.”

Escape rooms are a popular world-wide phenomenon whereby a group of friends, family or colleagues are thrown into a scenario where they’re locked in a room, and have to solve a series of
puzzles in order to escape. The Paternoster escape room explores a dark and dangerous past lurking beneath the genteel exterior of Cheltenham - a past with tentacles that reach into the present. Sleuths taking part in the escape room are presented with the cases of a kidnapped schoolgirl, a murdered secretary, and a businessman who utters 'paternoster' with his dying breath. They have an hour to uncover what links them all or they too will fall foul of Cheltenham's murky secrets.

Kim worked alongside Megan Prendergast, who manages the Escape Rooms, to devise a series of ingenious puzzles for participants to solve. “We’ve invented a range of different challenges to test participants’ powers of observation, problem solving and team working. They’ll have to concentrate!” Megan said.

The Paternoster Escape Room opened on 21 st September, 2019.
