JOHN MOORE’S ELMBURY – A VIRTUAL TOUR OF TEWKESBURY

Tewkesbury

Dates: 10/08/2024

Venue: Old Baptist Chapel

Talk lasts approximately 45 minutes followed by Q&A

Published in 1945, John Moore’s (1907-1967) most famous novel, Portrait of Elmbury, was the author’s homage to the town in which he was raised. Elmbury is John Moore’s version of his beloved Tewkesbury, and although the town has changed in nearly eighty years, its historic heart can easily be traced today. In this talk, Simon Lawton, former Curator of the John Moore Museum, will lead you on an illustrated tour of the sites which the author brought so vividly and affectionately to life.
