Introducing The Everyman, Cheltenham & Malvern Theatres New Three Counties Talent Hub Stage Writing Competition for Local Writers

The Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham and Malvern Theatres have announced that they are collaborating to launch a new stage writing competition, for adult writers working in the Three Counties region.

Paul Milton, Everyman Theatres Creative Director, said: "The Everyman is delighted to work with Malvern Theatres on this exciting new project, which gives a unique opportunity for a local talented playwright, or writing team for that matter, to showcase their work in two major theatres, but to also launch their name and work into the wider theatre world."

The competition launches the Three Counties Talent Hub (3CTH); an ambitious arts development programme that identifies, fosters, and gives a professional platform to creatives working in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

All entries must have a significant ‘sense of place’ in relation to Malvern and/or Cheltenham, and the winning entry will be workshopped in Malvern, before being performed in both Malvern and Cheltenham.

In time, the theatres hope to expand 3CTH to include other elements of theatre, as well as different artistic genres such as classical music.

The piece, suitable for a maximum of three performers, should have drama as its primary form, but could include music and/or physical theatre or other movement. As well as seeing their piece performed on the professional stage, the writer or writing team would also receive royalties from the performances.

Submission of content is free and 3CTH welcomes scripts from writers of all ages, all levels of experience, regardless of background, disability, ethnicity, gender identity, race, religion, or sexual orientation.

Fred Moroni, Malvern Theatres Executive Director, commented: "We are excited about the launch of Malvern Theatres' Three Counties Talent Hub, or 3CTH as its already better-known, and the impact it will have for creatives working in our region. As well as providing a platform for local writers, this scheme will benefit the wider cultural industry, launching a new piece at a time when it's never been more needed."
