Cheltenham resident celebrated as finalist in Caremark’s 2024 ‘The Incredibles’ national awards

 Caremark, a leading UK home care provider, has proudly announced the finalists for its prestigious UK award , ‘The Incredibles’ and Rachel Driscoll from Cheltenham and Tewkesbury has been recognised in the country’s top ten care assistants. The awards celebrate the extraordinary contributions of care assistants across the UK and distinguish an exceptional dedication to providing outstanding care.

 

This year’s selection process was highly competitive, with over 5,000 care assistants from across the UK being considered. Rachel stood out for their unwavering commitment to improving the lives of their customers, offering not only professional care but compassion and kindness that have had a lasting impact on those they support.

Joanne Folkes, Managing Director and Registered Care Manager of Caremark Cheltenham and Tewkesbury, who nominated Rachel, shared:

“As a busy mum of five, Rachel takes great pride in making a difference to other people’s lives. A recent example of this is her work with a customer who struggles with communication. Using a gentle approach, kindness and intuition, Rachel built trust, confidence and a rapport with this customer in a way that we never thought possible. The customer herself stated, "she just knows", highlighting Rachel's innate ability to connect on a level which understands the unspoken needs of those in her care.

“It's not just this example though – Rachel has worked with numerous customers who have complex needs and always found innovative ways to support them. She will quietly go above the call of duty; even on Christmas day, she finds time to drop off food to those who would otherwise be alone. Her humble nature represents the qualities of a true hero. Rachel exemplifies the very best of caregiving and we’re thrilled she’s made the finals of this award.”

Rachel’s customers appreciate her dedication, as reflected in their praise. One customer remarked, “I did not want carers at the beginning, but once she arrived, I changed my mind. I look forward to her visit, she takes the loneliness away, and she brightens my day.”

Another said: “Her support helps me feel more comfortable living in my own home.”

This year’s ‘Incredibles’ represent a wide range of exceptional care work, but what unites Rachel and the other finalists is their shared dedication to enriching the lives of others.

The highlight of the event will be the exciting announcement of The Incredible of the Year, a title reserved for the finalist whose work has shown exceptional dedication and impact.
