Spring Fayre delight for Sue Ryder as charity raises record amount

Cheltenham

Venue: Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice

National healthcare charity, Sue Ryder, is thanking people from the local community for supporting its popular Spring Fayre which raised more than £11,000 for families needing its care.

This much-anticipated event at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice near Cheltenham saw hundreds of people turn out in the hospice’s beautiful grounds for an action-packed day of family fun.

Highlights included a special performance by local children’s entertainer the Music Man, a kid's area featuring a bouncy castle, a climbing wall, and a visit from the local fire service with a fire engine. The Gloucestershire Troopers, dressed in Storm Trooper outfits, roamed the picturesque gardens, taking selfies, and collecting donations for the hospice.

Sponsors of the event, and keen supporters of the hospice, local Estate Agents Perry Bishop hosted a coconut shy and “guess the house price” competition, with the winner taking away a lavish hamper filled with items generously provided by local traders of The Bath Road.

The money raised - the most ever at the annual event - will go towards supporting the charity’s expert and compassionate palliative care and bereavement support services.

Alysia Cameron-Price, Community Fundraising Manager at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, said: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped make our Spring Fayre such a huge success – from our fantastic volunteers, entertainers, and stall holders to everyone who helped behind the scenes to make sure everything ran smoothly. Not forgetting everyone who donated raffle prizes, Creed Food Service who donated food for the barbecue, JB Event Hire for loaning us some gazebos and our wonderful sponsor, Perry Bishop, who made all this possible!*

"A big thanks to the local community too for coming out and supporting the hospice so generously, and for helping raise such an incredible amount of money. It means we can continue to be there for families when it matters most.”

Gavin Wallace, Residential Director at Perry Bishop commented, said: "It was a real pleasure to support the Sue Ryder Spring Fayre again on Saturday. The team and I had a fun day running our coconut shy and "Guess the House Price" stalls – both were very popular and kept us all busy for most of the day.

"A big thank you goes out to all of my team who gave up their free time to support the organising and running of our stalls – as is the case for all of the volunteers who without these events wouldn’t be able to function so a massive well done to all! We all went home feeling that we made a real difference to support this amazing charity."

With spring in the air, why not hop along to our next fundraiser, a fantastic High Ropes Challenge Fun Day on Saturday 8 June at 270 Climbing Park on Bentham Lane, between Cheltenham and Gloucester. Channel your inner daredevil and sign up for an epic aerial adventure!
