Emma Johnson and Hayley Matthews are about to open ‘Landing x The Wild Circle’. A network of events in the woods, that bring women together.
Johnson, a circle holder, writer and owner of ‘The Wild Circle’; Matthews a dancer, Rolfer and opener of the ‘Sanctuary on the Fault Line practice’ are opening their first gathering in a Gloucestershire woodland this Saturday November 30.
Hymns to the circadian integration and new steps that circling, dance and the wild bring to women’s lives. And acknowledgment of what
women bring to the world from these spaces. Johnson and Matthews want to widen the space for this work.
“it’s time for these subterranean chambers to grow”, says Matthews. “I’m really proud of this new collaboration and the magical space we've created together” says Johnson. “In a beautiful woodland setting, I will hold women in circle, around the fire, warmed by hot soup and tea, stories and meditations, to connect us to the wild land around us. And Hayley will gather us together to watch her dance between the trees. There will be poems of the season, a chance to journal, quietness, the wind in the trees, and space to sink into this soft, compassionate landing”.
“It’s long been known but newly understood” says Matthews” that for spiders, their web is part of their psyche. For humans too, our world is part of our psyche. And to re-connect to this, to the land around us and to our bodies and presence isn’t easy in our time. But we must wed ourselves again to root, flesh and river. And these spaces for women are time for that. Much is sparking in women’s consciousness now that we need spaces to ignite. May it grow mycelially”.
