REVIEW: Carpenters Gold
Cheltenham Town Hall
On Sunday evening, fans were treated to one of the most authentic Carpenter tribute shows to grace the UK stage.
Karen and Richard Carpenter played by the hugely talented Vikki Holland-Bowyer and Greg Stevenson, effortlessly created the iconic look and sound of the sister and brother duo.
The famous pair, along with fellow band members, soon had the audience tapping their toes and swaying along to classic hits including 'Only Yesterday' and 'Top of the world.'
With a quick outfit change from Karen halfway through the first half, fans were transported back to 1970 with scenes from the music video of 'We've only Just Begun.'
Revisiting the Carpenters New Haven roots, Karen and Richard took the Cheltenham audience on a country and western adventure, starting with a game of 'Name that Tune' and the hit single 'Sing a Song.'
The interactive style of the show allowed fans to become backing singers plus call out more answers to the clues of upcoming hits. The first half was rounded off with one of my personal favourites 'Mr Postman.'
The high energy and fantastic soundtrack of hits continued throughout the second half.
Carpenters Gold is now on tour throughout the UK, so grab your tickets and cowgirl/boy boots as it is highly recommended for an enjoyable night out down memory lane.
