REVIEW: The Beefy Boys Cheltenham Grand Opening
Regent Street, Cheltenham
There has been excitement growing in Cheltenham Town Centre. News and socials about the grand opening of a new burger joint, The Beefy Boys, offering food for the discerning patty lover. We were lucky enough to receive an invite to their grand opening!
Located just off the pedestrian High Street in Cheltenham, a short walk down Regent Street, we were greeted with a restaurant shop front that oozed class, but with a cool and inviting undertone. Through the windows it displayed a rugged interior, offering a modern and happy atmosphere.
Walking into the building, the place came alive. It was warm, spacious, with low lighting, plenty of seating and an industrial décor that made the place instantly welcoming. A bar to the left gave the promise of drinks of every description, and the place was packed. Everyone was clearly excited, a live DJ upstairs for this event made the place vibrant and different. Grabbing a complimentary drink, we made our way upstairs to explore. The simple colouring, hard wooden floors with neon signs spotted around and a hand painted mural running around the stairwell gave the place a unique and enjoyable surrounding.
Finding a table, we sat on comfortable chairs that were not crammed in and sipped the Margaritas, that had a dusting of Paprika down the side of the glass giving the drink an extra smoky kick. On the table was a huge menu with everything you could ask for to have the personalised burger of your dreams! You would need to make a number of visits to try all the tempting combinations of beef, chicken or veg, patty styles, sauces and sides. All of which can be washed down with a variety of alcoholic drinks, as well as milkshakes, soft drinks and hot drinks, but tonight we were not there to order, we were there to sample.
The excitement peaked when the taster plates started to circle the room, huge trays of appetisers and mini slider burgers started to appear. Watching those people lucky enough to take a bite before the tray reached our table made the wait even harder. Eventually the first tray appeared, huge mac & cheese balls, the outside shell of the ball was crispy and delicious, the filling, hot, cheesy and salty. Next up came the Jalapeno poppers, not your usual collapsing cream cheese style, these are a substantial cheese filled flavour hit!
Finally small burger sliders, as tasty as their big brothers. We managed to nab 3 different options, The blue boy, The dirty cluckers and The beanie boy. All 3 burgers were tasty, juicy, full of flavour and succulent. It made up our minds that we were coming back on a regular night, to sit and have a full dining experience.
But wait it didn’t end there, a final offering appeared, Brownies. Small morsels of salted caramel or triple chocolate tasters. They were rich, decadent, indulgent and the absolute star dish of the night. Any chocolate lover needs to save room for this desert option!
