Something Old, Something New - Contemporary & Classic Poetry

Cheltenham

Dates: 20/04/2024

Venue: Cheltenham Friends' Meeting House

Two years ago poet and academic Fiona Sampson gave an inspiring talk about 'The Gloucestershire School Poetry at the Cheltenham Poetry Festival. This year we continue to celebrate the artistic legacy of this beautiful county.

Prize-winning poet Isabel Galleymore and local poets, Iris Lewis and Derek Healy, will be sharing their own poems along with those by Gloucestershire poets who have come before them and who, despite writing in very different times, remain influential and inspiring.

Isabel Galleymore's first collection, 'Significant Other', won the John Pollard Foundation International Poetry Prize in 2020 and her second collection, 'Baby Schema', is forthcoming in 2024. Isabel is an Associate Professor in Creative Writing at the University of Birmingham.
