The evening opens with George Gershwin’s Cuban Overture, a vibrant and rhythmic celebration of Latin sounds that will set the stage for the journey to follow. Next, let yourself be swept away by the sultry tones of John Williams’ Escapades, performed by the talented Vicki Watson on alto saxophone. Then, Dominic Irving takes the spotlight for a performance of Gershwin’s iconic Rhapsody in Blue—a timeless blend of classical and jazz that captures the spirit of New York City. Leonard Bernstein’s lively Mambo from West Side Story, guaranteed to fill the hall with infectious energy.
Rosie Bennet then enchants with the evocative melodies of Joaquin Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, offering a rich Spanish flavour that lingers in the air. The evening concludes with Arturo Márquez’s Danzon No. 2, a piece that pulses with life and captures the essence of Latin American dance.
